The Anky story
ANKY® Technical Casuals was founded in 1998 by Anky van Grunsven and her partner Sjef Janssen due to a shortage of fashionable, comfortable and high-quality riding gear and related equestrian equipment. Since 2012 ANKY® Technical Casuals is part of Bieman de Haas B.V.
The need for comfortable conditions while practicing top sport is enormous. Anky van Grunsven, winner of three consecutive individual Olympic gold medals, knows better than anyone which needs a top athlete is facing. During her way to the top, Anky and her partner and coach Sjef Janssen raised the question whether it was not possible to develop clothing and articles in which the rider and horse can function better. The use of high-quality technical materials and fabrics had to be central.
The range of clothing and accessories for equestrian sports did not meet the wishes of Anky and her team. After extensive research at the University of applied sciences of Enschede (The Netherlands), it appeared that there was a great demand from the equestrian sector for high-quality equestrian sports articles and clothing. Setting up an innovative line turned out to be a daunting task. Before ANKY® Technical Casuals was launched in November 1998, two years of thorough research had preceded it. Since then, we at ANKY® Technical Casuals have been looking for new technologies and product improvements to answer the demand for top quality products.
