Bombers Bit Lock up Loose Ring
The Lock Up Loose Ring removes the nut cracker action of the conventional snaffle. As a result, it will bear less pressure on each side of the horses jaw called the bars.
The Loose Ring allows for immediate release and relief from tongue and bar pressure which will reset the bit in the horses’ mouth.
The locking centre joint and curved mouthpiece of the Lock Up Snaffle from Bombers Bits are designed to remove the nutcracker action of a conventional single-jointed snaffle, so this bit will bear less pressure on the bars of the horse’s mouth. The mouthpiece cannot bend beyond a certain point, so it remains in a curve in the mouth, rather than forming a V-shape that could rub the top of the horse’s palate.
The loose ring makes the bit mobile in the horse’s mouth, encouraging him to gently mouth the bit. It also allows for an immediate release of the rein aids, releasing pressure on the tongue and bars straight away when the horse responds to commands.
Additionally, all our bits are made from blue sweet iron, because it:
- oxidises easily
- encourages salivation
- helps bit acceptance
- is warm and sweet

Bomber Bits have used blue sweet iron which easily oxidises when in the horses mouth encouraging the horse to salivate more and accept the bit.
This in turn keeps them softer in the mouth creating a happier all round ride and partenership with the rider.
Pressure = Resistance Resistance = Lack of control
A horse is an animal of flight – it will never yield to pressure or pain, it will either move away from it or run away.
Therefore pressure = resistance = lack of control.
To obtain control we need to remove the resistance.
To remove the resistance, one must remove the pressure or distribute the pressure over a larger surface area.
