Meet The Team
Janice – Founder of Saddlesdane
Janice, founder and owner of Saddlesdane, is beginning to take a step back from the day-to-day running of the business - but she’s still very much part of the team.
Her love for horses began in her teens with an ex-racehorse, sparking a lifelong passion for all things equestrian. In 2001, Janice and her late husband Andy opened Saddlesdane as a small tack shop.
A dedicated dressage rider, Janice has competed at both regional and national levels, including performances at Olympia with her homebred Trakehner gelding, Purdy.
Janice’s passion and vision remain at the heart of Saddlesdane.
Annette – Full-Time Team Member
Annette is a key member of the Saddlesdane team and the daughter of Janice. Friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to go the extra mile, Annette is known for her dedication and problem-solving skills - whatever your equestrian needs, she’ll do her best to help. Annette is also an active member of the BETA retail commitee
After a short time working in the prison service, Annette returned to Saddlesdane and quickly became an essential part of daily life here. Her background in the equestrian world is extensive; she qualified for HOYS in 2003 with East Kent Pony Club on her much-loved pony, Dinky. Today, she continues to compete with her home-produced mare.
Annette is also an active member of the BETA Retail Committee and has completed the BETA Rider Safety Equipment Fitting Course, ensuring her advice is always backed by expert knowledge and industry standards.
Annette brings both experience and passion to everything she does at Saddlesdane.
Josie – Full-Time Team Member
Josie is a key member of the Saddlesdane team, the daughter of Janice. Josie balances her work across website management and accounts. After completing her Cordwainer’s qualification in Saddlery at Capel Manor College, Josie initially joined us to manage online product listings - ensuring new seasonal and core items are ready to shop as soon as they arrive.
Now, she’s taken on a wider role behind the scenes, supporting with accounts.
Josie also spent a hunt season in New Zealand, enjoying the breathtaking landscapes along the way. A true cat lover, she’s still hoping we’ll one day stock a full feline range - so don’t be surprised if Saddlesdane starts catering to cats too!
Megan – Full-Time Team Member
Megan has been an essential part of Saddlesdane’s day-to-day operations since 2019. She is currently completing a Multimedia Marketing apprenticeship with Saddlesdane, helping to support and grow our digital presence alongside her busy role in-store.
With a strong equestrian background and completed BHS stages, Megan is always ready to assist with the many weird and wonderful questions that come with horse ownership. She also specialises in designing custom sparkly riding hats using our configurator and keeps us ahead of the curve with the latest seasonal trends.
Outside of work, Megan enjoys spending time with her lovely pony, Filly, and stays closely connected to the equestrian world both in and out of the workplace.
Ashleigh – Full-Time Team Member
Ashleigh is the newest addition to the Saddlesdane team and brings with her a wealth of hands-on experience from the competition world. She previously worked as an international show jumping groom, including a 7-week tour in Oliva, Spain.
Ashleigh is also a proud owner of Hamish, her 8-year-old Thoroughbred, who she has recently and successfully introduced to eventing.
With her background on professional yards, Ashleigh is settling in well and is always happy to share her expertise - offering helpful, practical advice to support you and your horse.
Andy – Co-Founder (In Loving Memory)
Andy was the co-founder of Saddlesdane, building the business alongside Janice with dedication, vision, and a true hands-on spirit. Sadly, Andy passed away in 2015, but his presence is still deeply felt in everything we do.
From the very beginning, Andy was never afraid to get stuck in - whether it was fitting shop fixings, making supply runs, or even driving all the way to France to collect a horse cart that proudly stood at our front entrance. He played a huge role in shaping Saddlesdane into what it is today and was always there to support “the girls” however he could.
Andy’s legacy continues to be a part of Saddlesdane’s foundations, and he will always be remembered with great love and pride.
