Meet The Team

Janice – Founder of Saddlesdane

Janice, founder and owner of Saddlesdane, is gradually taking a step back from the day-to-day running of the business, but she remains an invaluable and much-loved part of the team.

Her equestrian journey began in her teens with an ex-racehorse, sparking a lifelong passion for horses and the wider equestrian world. In 2001, Janice and her late husband Andy opened Saddlesdane as a small tack shop, laying the foundations for the shop we are today.

A devoted dressage rider, Janice has competed at both regional and national levels, including special appearances at Olympia with her homebred Trakehner gelding, Purdy.

Most recently, Janice has welcomed a new horse, Orquidea, imported from Portugal. At seven years old, Orquidea is an exciting addition to the family, and Janice is looking forward to getting out and about with her soon.

Annette – Full-Time Team Member (Currently on Maternity Leave)

Annette is a key member of the Saddlesdane team and the daughter of Janice. Friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to go the extra mile, whatever your equestrian needs, Annette will always do her best to help.

After a short period working in the prison service, Annette returned to Saddlesdane and quickly became an essential part of daily life here. Her equestrian background is extensive, she qualified for HOYS in 2003 with East Kent Pony Club on her much-loved pony, Dinky, and today continues to compete with her home-produced mare.

Annette is an active member of the BETA Retail Committee and has completed the BETA Rider Safety Equipment Fitting Course, ensuring her advice is backed by expert knowledge and industry standards.

Annette brings both experience and passion to everything she does at Saddlesdane. She is currently on maternity leave after welcoming her little boy, Rowan, in October 2025, and we look forward to having her back with us soon.

Josie – Full-Time Team Member

Josie is a key member of the Saddlesdane team another daughter of Janice. She plays an integral role behind the scenes, balancing both website management and accounts.

After completing her Cordwainer’s qualification in Saddlery at Capel Manor College, Josie first joined the business to manage online product listings, ensuring new seasonal and core items were ready to shop the moment they arrived. As Saddlesdane has grown, so has her role, and she now contributes widely to the smooth running of our accounts department.

Josie also spent a hunt season in New Zealand, taking in the country’s breathtaking landscapes and adding even more depth to her equestrian experience.

A devoted cat lover, Josie is still campaigning for a full feline range in-store, so don’t be surprised if Saddlesdane starts catering to cats one day!

Megan – Full-Time Team Member

Megan has been an essential part of Saddlesdane’s day-to-day operations since 2019. Alongside her busy role in-store, she is currently completing a Multimedia Marketing apprenticeship, playing a key part in strengthening and growing our digital presence with creativity and enthusiasm. We’re excited to see her complete her course and continue elevating our social media channels.

With a strong equestrian background and completed BHS stages, Megan is always ready to help with the many weird and wonderful questions that come with horse ownership. She also specialises in designing custom sparkly riding hats using our configurator and keeps us ahead of the curve by tracking the latest seasonal trends.

Outside of work, Megan enjoys spending time with her lovely pony, Filly, and stays closely connected to the equestrian world both in and out of the workplace.

Tash – Full-Time Team Member

Tash brings a wealth of hands-on experience to the Saddlesdane team, having previously worked across driving, dressage, and racing yards, as well as spending four years in a veterinary practice. Her varied background gives her a deep understanding of horse care and management, which she now brings to the shop floor every day.

She competes in both dressage and showing with her beautiful Irish Draught × Welsh Section D, Springer, and loves developing him through the levels. Outside of the equestrian world, Tash enjoys relaxing at home with her two greyhounds, Patch and Fern.

With her strong interest in equine and canine health, sparked during her time at the vets, Tash is the go-to person for all things first aid. Her knowledge and practical experience make her a valued and trusted member of the team.

Hannah – Full-Time Team Member

Hannah has been immersed in the equestrian world from a young age, growing up within the showing circuit and later gaining hands-on experience working on both showjumping and hunt yards. Her strong background across multiple disciplines brings a fresh perspective to Saddlesdane, where she loves introducing new ideas inspired by her years in the ring.

Outside of work, Hannah can usually be found training and competing her talented young horse, Bumble. As the proud owner of a grey, she has become something of a whitening-product expert, if there’s a way to make a grey sparkle, Hannah knows it!

Friendly, enthusiastic, and full of insight from her showing roots, Hannah is a fantastic addition to the Saddlesdane team.

Kirsty – Part-Time Team Member

Kirsty grew up just across the road at Deepdene Stables and has been around horses for as long as she can remember. Her lifelong connection to the equestrian world gives her a natural understanding of horses and the needs of their owners.

For the past six years, Kirsty worked as a lorry driver, developing a calm, confident, and highly practical approach to any task. She has now joined Saddlesdane part-time after welcoming her little girl, Lara, and we’re delighted to have her as part of the team.

Kirsty’s local roots, hands-on experience, and warm personality make her a fantastic addition to Saddlesdane.

Andy – Co-Founder (In Loving Memory)

Andy was the co-founder of Saddlesdane, building the business alongside Janice with dedication, vision, and a true hands-on spirit. Sadly, Andy passed away in 2015, but his presence is still deeply felt in everything we do.

From the very beginning, Andy was never afraid to get stuck in - whether it was fitting shop fixings, making supply runs, or even driving all the way to France to collect a horse cart that proudly stood at our front entrance. He played a huge role in shaping Saddlesdane into what it is today and was always there to support “the girls” however he could.

Andy’s legacy continues to be a part of Saddlesdane’s foundations, and he will always be remembered with great love and pride.
